Help-Portrait San Diego!

I thought twice about posting these images because this was something I wanted to do with thousands of photographers around the world. I have decided against posting images in order to respect the privacy of my subjects. I participated in a wonderful world wide project called Help-Portrait . Help-Portrait is about giving portraits to people who need some hope in their lives. I worked at the site located at a site called Solutions for Change. Solutions for Change is a transitional facility that helps families have a secure place while they rebuild their lives. These families have gone through some challenges and SFC gives them the opportunity to get a fresh start. I worked with Stuart Allman who proved to be a wiz at posing families. Help-Portrait 2010 - San Diego

It was that that time of the year again. This was my second time of the year I participated in Help-Portrait. Help-Portrait is a movement of photographers who use their talents to help those in need. The goal is simple. You find a person in need, take their picture and give them a print. This year, there were three sites the San Diego team worked with. Seasons For Change participated again this year as they did in our first event last year, we picked up the Bayside Community Center in Linda Vista and St. Claire's House in Escondido. It was a long morning. I have been battling a cold since last Friday so that made the day even longer. I was able to find a MUA for our morning shoot at St Claire's and I want to give a shout out to Katie for helping us out. We had three MUAs on hand to do makeup for the ladies and girls. I posted a picture of the group of photographers who shot but as you know I need to protect the women at St. Claire's.

Writer, Teacher and Surfer

I got a last minute call from my man Jerod after I just finally settled in to watch the Padre game. "Wanna do a shoot?" I asked who and Jerod tells me Stuart Holmes Coleman. Not being a surfer(can't swim either), I knew nothing about this man but I lived right up the hill from Mission Valley so I figured why not. I was very impressed listening to Stuart speak at his booksigning. Very nice and very interesting. This man moved to Hawaii to following fulfill his life's passion and that was to write and surf. Stuart was promoting his latest book "Fierce Heart" at Border's Book and drew a small crowd. I didn't expect to take any pictures today but I'm glad I got that call because I ended up with some nice images.
